Vumbura Plains

A land of extreme contrasts, Botswana is undoubtedly southern Africa’s most evocative safari destination.
Unfettered by fences, Botswana’s wildlife is breathtaking, and the contrast between the lush wetlands of the Okavango and the dry sands of the Kalahari Desert is truly remarkable. With nearly 40% of the country set aside for wildlife, Botswana has transformed in recent years into a modern, stable democracy without losing its core essence of wildness. Visit Botswana for a true sense of freedom and journey on an unforgettable safari that will stir your soul and leave your life forever changed.
To truly appreciate this desert and delta wonderland, it is advisable to incorporate both into your Botswana itinerary. At certain times of the year, huge herds of game roam between the dry central Kalahari plains and the crystal-clear waterways of the Okavango Delta, but at any time of year, there are breathtaking spectacles of nature to absorb. Wildlife and a variety of ecosystems are well protected within a series of national parks surrounded by private game reserves or concessions, in which most of the top wildlife camps can be found.
The best time to visit Botswana is the dry winter season between May and October, when the daytime temperatures are cooler and the animals congregate around water. July-September is peak tourist season when the Okavango Delta is in flood, fed by the summer rains upstream in Angola. Between November and April, known as the green season, summer rains make for a photographers dream as the grass and trees are the most vibrant. This is also the time when many animals give birth (plains game), increasing predator activity as a result. While some areas do become less productive, we concentrate our itinerary planning to encompass those areas which have high quality year round game viewing. Travel to Botswana is the ultimate game viewing experience no matter when you visit.
